A whole lot of Mid-Century Modern with a kiss of kitsch.
Welcome to Willow Run, built in 1959, extensively renovated in 2013, and perfected in 2014. A supreme example of the iconic Palmer and Kriesel design, built by the Alexander Construction company, located in the heart of historic Racquet Club Estates in Palm Springs.
Enjoy outdoor living at its very best with magnificent unobstructed views of the San Jacinto Mountains that are equally dramatic at sunrise and sunset. The pool and spa, fire pit, gas grill, manicured yard and covered patio area provide many options for enjoying the sheer beauty of the desert. Willow Run features a saltwater pool, an eco-friendly alternative to the harsh chemical contents of typical chlorine pools. A few of the physical benefits of saltwater pools include no chlorine chemical smells, they are easier on the skins and eyes, and far better for one’s hair. You will notice the difference the moment you jump in!

An equally peaceful interior awaits you as well. With three bedrooms and two baths, this layout comfortably sleeps six. The Master Suite sports a king size bed and direct access to back yard with private sitting area for morning coffee with sunrise and newspaper. Second bedroom has queen size bed, and third bedroom has 2 twin beds. All bedrooms have luxurious linens and large closets, and there is a full sized washer dryer for convenience.
Like to cook? (me too!) Willow Run has a lovely, entirely new kitchen with new stainless steel appliances and an island where everyone can gather and help prepare the meal. (Or just watch the Chef at work!) The new cabinetry is well-stocked with dishes, flatware, and all the pots, pans and utensils one would need to create anything from basic burgers on the grill to something more gourmet for a special occasion.
One of the nicest features of the floor plan is the addition of a true dining room adjacent to the open kitchen. In addition to increasing the home’s square footage, it provides a touch of formality if a proper sit-down meal is on the agenda. Say “hi” to Fifi and Jean-Pierre, the vintage poodle lamps overseeing your meal from the buffet.
The living room is an open space that incorporates the beautiful outdoors and embodies the indoor/outdoor aspects of these classic floor plans. The views of the serene back yard and pool are only topped by the amazing mountain views thru the clerestory windows over the kitchen and dining areas. A 55” HD flat screen with extensive cable package is available for your enjoyment, and Hi-speed Wi-Fi is also provided. The furniture is both comfortable and classic in its design, ideal for hanging out with friends and family. Additionally, the gas fireplace provides a wonderful ambiance for the cool desert nights.
The art in Willow Run was selected to compliment the interior, reflect the history of Palm Springs and some of its historic images and characters, and also provide a little clue as to the naming of the house.
